Acclaimed violinist Ray Chen will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in the University of Wyoming Fine Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $20 for the public and $17 for UW students. For tickets and information, call (307) 766-6666, visit the Fine Arts or Wyoming Union box offices or visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/finearts/. Chen’s performance is the final event in UW’s Cultural Programs’ spring concert series.

In 2009, Chen won the International Queen Elisabeth Competition, and in 2008, won the Yehudi Menuhin Competition. Chen’s album, “Virtuoso,” released worldwide on Sony Classical in 2011, won the Echo Klassik award.

“Ray Chen can do pretty much anything he wants on the violin,” says The Washington Post. “Chen makes a beautiful sound, but doesn’t get lost in tone for its own sake; he knows how to make a sound that feels exactly right for the piece in question.”

“Chen’s debut appearances at Ravinia and Schleswig-Holstein, where he played with the Munich Philharmonic, earned him standing ovations, and he was profiled in both The Strand and Gramophon magazines as ‘The one to watch,’” says UW Cultural Programs Director Cedric Reverand.
