Bill Finnerty is UW Employee of the Quarter
Recognized by everyone for being friendly, punctual and willing to offer a helping hand, Wyo Hall custodian Bill Finnerty is the University of Wyoming’s Outstanding Staff Employee of the Second Quarter.
The award recognizes UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace.
“He is a great employee of the university, who always does his job with a smile and with great pride,” a nominator wrote. “He goes above and beyond expectations for the department and the building, and is always willing to help with anything that needs to be done.”
All of the nominations mentioned Finnerty’s smile and good-natured rapport with everyone.
“He is truly an excellent employee who is always happy, always pleasant to be around and always here doing excellent work,” is typical of what building occupants say about him. “We enjoy seeing him every day and can't imagine life without him.”
Finnerty has received such praise since joining the UW staff in 1993. He has been assigned to Wyo Hall for 14 years.
“Wow, this is an unexpected honor, it really took me by surprise,” he says about the award. “The best part about this job is interacting with the people. I’ve never had any bad dealings with anyone, and I enjoy coming to work, even if it means shoveling snow at 5 a.m.”
He cites his supervisor, Manny Gallegos, and fellow custodian Ron Allen for their support in making his job successful.
Employee of the Quarter nominees can be any UW staff employee and must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the web at www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/employee-of-the-quarter.
