Point Guard Ministries Event July 31

July 26, 2013

“Passing the Rock, Spreading Salvation,” is the theme of The Point Guard Ministries Festival Fundraiser from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the UniWyo Sports Complex. The event is free and open to the public.

Former University of Wyoming basketball player and retired UW policeman Anthony “A.J.” Johnson is organizing the ministry and will speak at the event. Co-sponsors include Chi Alpha, the campus ministries and UW’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Keynote speaker Austin Moss, deacon of Means Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, Ky., will share his stories about what faith has meant to him. Wendy Hellum and Joel Helenbolt of Cheyenne Hills Church will provide music.

Former UW football player Galand Thaxton and current men’s basketball assistant coach Allen Edwards will emcee and speak at the event.

Point Guard Ministries become an official nonprofit organization last year. Johnson organized the ministry three years ago after he retired from the UW Police Department.
