University of Wyoming Department of Music faculty members Sherry Sinift, Jim Pryzgocki and Beth Vanderborgh will collaborate with guest pianist Jocelyn Swigger for a free concert highlighting composers Chopin and Brahms Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for Performing Arts concert hall.
Professor Sinift teaches violin lessons, coaches chamber music and directs the String Academy, a pre-college program that provides string instrument lessons and chamber music experiences on campus. She enlisted the musical aid of her colleagues Pryzgocki, viola; and Vanderborgh, cello; to round out a program of 19th century chamber music with Swigger, piano faculty member at Pennsylvania’s Gettysburg College.
Swigger has been recognized for her collaborative performances and her professional recordings, described as “charmingly rambunctious.” She was praised in album reviews for her “extraordinary, high-charged energy.”
Besides maintaining an active teaching and performing schedule in North America, Swigger has performed extensively in the Czech Republic and Spain, and in 2008 received a Fulbright award to study in Paraguay.
