Balinese Music and Dance To Be Featured at UW Concert November 16

Guest dancer Ni Kethut Marni will teach a Balinese dance workshop and perform Nov. 16 at UW.

Enjoy music and dance from Bali, Indonesia, during a free concert Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Wyoming College of Education auditorium.

The Wyoming Gamelan Candra Wyoga performs Balinese instrumental music and dance, directed by I Made Lasmawan and guest master dancer Ni Kethut Marni.

The concert will feature a performance of “Topeng,” a colorful and sometimes humorous male dance. Guest dancer I Gusti Ngurah Kertayuda will use various masks and styles to perform characters from Balinese tradition with the ensemble.

Female dancer Ni Kethut Marni and male dancer I Gusti Ngurah Kertayuda will offer Balinese dance workshops from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, also in the College of Education auditorium. The workshops will introduce participants to Balinese dance forms. They are free and open to the public.
