Wyoming Union Hosts 'Before I Die' Board through November 26

November 12, 2013

Anyone in the Laramie area can participate in a unique, interactive art installation at the University of Wyoming.

A “Before I Die” board will be installed in the Wyoming Union through Tuesday, Nov. 26, across from the University Store. Anyone is free to write down the one thing they want to do before they die. Created by New Orleans artist Candy Chang, this project was brought to UW by freshmen Lindsey Findley and Sean Odonnell as part of their final project for their Functions of Story Telling class, offered by the UW Synergy Program.

“After losing my grandmother in September, I felt inspired to bring something like this to UW to get students involved in a way to allow them to slow down on life and reflect on the things that are important to them,” Findley says. “Life is just too short, and this is an awesome way for the community to come together and tell a story.”

Findley and Odonnell will document the entries and do a final paper on the process of bringing the “Before I Die” project to Laramie.

Chang’s website states that the “Before I Die” wall has been created in more than 60 countries and in more than 25 languages, and proves to be a “constant source of inspiration.”
