The University of Wyoming will not publish a printed telephone directory for the 2013-14 academic year.
However, a PDF version of the directory that is suitable for printing may be found at https://www.uwyo.edu/newssupport/newsHighRes/documents/directory/University_Directory_13-14.pdf. And UW’s online directory for departments, faculty and staff continues to be available at https://www.uwyo.edu/uw/people/. Neither includes contact information for individual students.
“We understand that a printed UW directory has been customary for many years, but the private company with which we worked to produce the directory was no longer willing to provide the service to the university -- and finding another vendor has proven to be problematic,” says Chad Baldwin, UW’s director of institutional communications. “With the availability of online resources providing quick access to telephone and email information, many other universities have discontinued their printed directories. We’re not yet ready to declare UW’s printed directory dead forever, but the prudent move this year is to not publish it.”
The PDF version, which has been updated for 2013-14 through the work of Institutional Communications Office Associate Jane Wolfinbarger and others, may be printed on regular 8- by 10.5-inch paper -- for those who desire directory information in the traditional format. It is designed for double-sided printing. Meanwhile, the online directory, which is updated regularly, is the best source for current contact information for UW units and employees.
