UW Art Museum exhibit
Works by both University of Wyoming Department of Art students and faculty can be seen at the UW Art Museum. Gallery walk-through events are scheduled Monday, Feb. 10, and Monday, Feb. 17. (UW Photo)

Students who received awards at the “39th Annual Juried University of Wyoming Student Exhibition” will present a public gallery walk-through Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at the UW Art Museum.

Faculty members, whose work is on view for the “UW Art Department Faculty Exhibition,” also will present a gallery walk-through Monday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

The “Annual Juried UW Student Exhibition” is an opportunity for students to gain professional experience by participating in a museum exhibition. A different juror from outside Wyoming is invited each year to select the work for exhibition. This year’s juror was Nina Johnson-Milewski, owner of Gallery Diet in Miami. Both purchase and cash awards were announced at the recent opening reception. The exhibition is on view through March 1.

Every three years, the UW Art Museum showcases the creative work of UW Department of Art faculty members. Participating this year are Kristen Bartel, Diana Baumbach, Ashley Hope Carlisle, Peter Fine, Leah Hardy, Margaret Haydon, David Jones, Patrick Kikut, Ricki Klages, Mark Ritchie, Bailey Russel, Doug Russell and Shelby Shadwell.

Individually, the faculty members exhibit their works in national and international venues; the UW Art Department Faculty Exhibition is an opportunity to view their work collectively. The exhibition is on view through March 22.

For more information, call the UW Art Museum at (307) 766-6622 or visit www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum and its blog at www.uwyoartmuseum.org, or follow the museum on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/uwyoartmuseum.

Through its “museum as classroom” approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. Located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie, the museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Mondays from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Admission is free.
