March 6, 2014 — Felicia Follum’s “East Meets West” will be on display March 10-April 10 in the University of Wyoming Union’s Gallery 234. A reception will be held April 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Refreshments will be provided.
“East Meets West,” a response to Follum’s trip to India, compares cultures in the United States and India. The exhibition examines stereotypes of developing countries and shows the beauty of India that is often overlooked.
One portion of the exhibition talks about waste to “encourage people to think about the way we dispose of our own trash and may inspire people to think about ways to address America’s trash problem,” Follum says.
“East Meets West” is part of UW’s annual Shepard Symposium on Social Justice, which Follum hopes will help to stimulate cultural dialogue and arts advocacy throughout the state.
