David Bohling has been named program manager with the Innovation Center of the Rockies (ICR). He works directly with the Wyoming Technology Business Center (WTBC) and the Wyoming Research Products Center (RPC), both University of Wyoming programs that work collaboratively to commercialize UW inventions.

“Dave’s background as a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, with 30 years of industry experience in materials and engineering, as well as thin films, chemical production and capital equipment engineering, will be an asset as we work to turn UW’s campus into an engine of economic prosperity,” says Jon Benson, WTBC CEO. “It is an exciting time for entrepreneurship on the UW campus.”

RPC Director Davona Douglass adds, “UW has a growing portfolio of research. Dave and the ICR’s resources will support the RPC’s goals of transferring UW’s exciting intellectual property to industry and facilitating the formation of start-up companies.”

Such experiences with large companies, combined with a strong technical background, give Bohling “a perfect blend” to support WTBC’s and RPC’s commercialization goals, says Tim Bour, ICR executive director.

“As we continue to expand the ICR’s footprint outside of Colorado, Dave is a great example of the high level of talent we can bring to the table for our university partners,” Bour says. He adds that the ICR provides a dedicated program manager who works closely with UW to understand the key elements of the invention, background and expectations around the process.

About the WTBC

The WTBC is a business development program located on the UW campus. Opening in 2006, the 30,000-square-foot facility offers laboratory, office and shared conference room space for client companies, as well as collocation space in a state-of-the-art data center.

The WTBC focuses on developing early-stage, technology-based companies, with an emphasis on high-growth firms. All client companies located in the incubator have access to one-on-one business counseling and executive coaching services provided by the WTBC staff. For more information, visit www.uwyo.edu/wtbc.

About the RPC

Launched in 1999 as a collaborative effort between the UW Research Office and the Wyoming Business Council, the RPC is the university’s technology transfer office. It assists any Wyoming entrepreneur or inventor across the state. The office helps Wyoming citizens and companies identify, protect and commercialize their intellectual properties.  For more information, visit www.uwyo.edu/rpc/index.html.
