March 13, 2014 — The University of Wyoming Energy Resources Council (ERC) will meet at 8 a.m. Friday, March 28, at the BP Collaboration Center in the Energy Innovation Center on the UW campus.
Council members will hear updates on the recently concluded legislative session and the progress of the High Bay Research Facility, and discuss a “Barriers to Exporting Coal” study.
The council will reconvene after lunch as the Advanced Conversion Technologies Task Force (ACTTF) to hear an update on the upcoming Clean Coal Research Fund Symposium scheduled Aug. 21.
Following the meeting, a 90-minute tour of the Western Research Institute North Facility and LP Amina coal combustion/gasification project is planned.
The ERC was established by the Wyoming State Legislature in 2006. Made up of representatives of industry, state government and academia, the council provides direction to the UW School of Energy Resources (SER) on priorities for research and outreach. The ACTTF consists of the voting members of the Energy Resources Council; it awards funds for advanced conversion research.
The SER provides undergraduate and graduate education, conducts research on existing and emerging energy resources, and disseminates scientific, engineering and economic information to support Wyoming’s near- and long-term energy future.
People with disabilities requiring special accommodations to attend this meeting should contact the SER at (307) 766-6897. Information about the SER is available on the Web at www.uwyo.edu/ser.
