University of Wyoming Calendar for April 7

These are among activities scheduled April 7-13 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, April 7, 7 p.m. -- Astrophotography exhibition talk, “NASA’s Search for Other Earth-size Planets,” by  astronomer Daniel Dale, Visual Arts Building Room 111. Free.

Monday, April 7, 7-9:30 p.m. -- Latino Film Series presents "The Narrative Pathway of UW Students," Classroom Building Room 105. Free.

Monday, April 7, 7:30 p.m. -- The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Pan Band performs in the Buchanan Center of the Performing Arts concert hall. Free.

Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. -- UW Emergency Preparedness Fair, Wyoming Union breezeway. Free.

Tuesday, April 8, 1:20–2:30 p.m. -- Capstone Speaker Series features Rob Hurless speaking on the “Governor's Energy Strategy,” Energy Innovation Center Encana auditorium, Room 201. Free.

Wednesday, April 9, 7-10 p.m. -- Hit country artists Tyler Farr and Charlie Worsham performance, College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Cost is $5 for students and $10 for the public.

Wednesday, April 9, 7:30 p.m. -- Department of Music visiting artist series presents soprano Dawn Upshaw, Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Cost is $10 for students and $20 for the public.

Thursday, April 10, 7 p.m. -- Art talk featuring Emily Stamey, Visual Arts Building Room 111. Free.

Thursday, April 10, 7 p.m. -- The Cooper House film series “Songs in Films” features Martin Scorsese’s “Mean Streets,” UW Cooper House. Free.

Friday, April 11, noon-1 p.m. -- SER Distinguished Speaker Series presents Tom Konrad on "How the Financial Market Shapes the Energy Economy," Energy Innovation Center Encana auditorium, Room 208. Free.

Friday, April 11, 5 p.m. -- Eco-chic fashion show, Visual Arts Building lobby. Free, refreshments will be served.

Friday, April 11, 6 p.m. -- UW tennis vs. Boise State, UW Tennis Complex. Free.

Friday, April 11, 9 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever presents comedian Adam Mamawala, Wyoming Union lower level. Free.

Friday, April 11, 6-8 p.m. -- Astrophotography Opening Exhibition reception, UW Art Museum. Free.

Friday, April 11, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Ways to Die in Space,” followed at 8 p.m. by “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” Tickets for each show cost $3 for adults, $2 for students and free to children under 12. Enter through the southwest doors of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, April 12, 5-7 p.m. -- Celebrate the culture of Nepal in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Free. From 7-8:30 p.m., enjoy Nepali cuisine in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. The event is free, but tickets are required, and available at the Wyoming Union information desk starting at noon April 8-10 to people with UW ID cards.

Saturday, April 12, 7 p.m. -- Maycee Spence, junior saxophone recital, Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Free.

Sunday, April 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Outdoor Program spring outdoor gear swap, Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. No cost to attend.

Sunday, April 13, 6 p.m. -- UW tennis vs. Utah State, UW Tennis Complex. Free.

Sunday, April 13, 3 p.m. -- Department of Music Faculty Recital Series presents the Verismo Trio, Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Free.

A variety of exhibitions can be seen at the UW Art Museum in the Centennial Complex, 2111 Willett Drive, open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Mondays from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Free.
