As the result of a multi-department collaborative effort, the University Store in the University of Wyoming Union recently began accepting electronic devices for trade-in.
“This new program not only works toward reducing UW’s levels of e-waste, but now allows both departments and individuals the ability to capture any remaining value in select electronic devices,” says Misty Eaton, University Store manager.
The primary devices accepted under the store’s trade-in program are smartphones, tablets, iPods and MacBooks. For a complete list of devices and trade-in values, visit www.uwyostore.com/trade_in.asp.
“We believe our program partner, Encore, offers some of the best prices in the industry and this will ultimately reduce the cost of future electronic purchases for departments,” Eaton says.
Departments that trade in qualified devices will receive credit toward the purchase of new electronic items, while individuals will receive University Store gift cards. As part of this collaborative effort, UW’s Property Office will work with the store to ensure all data from departmental devices are removed to UW’s current standards.
