Cowboy Check-In Program Implemented for UW Students

September 30, 2014

The University of Wyoming Campus Activities Center (CAC) is offering a new incentive to help students succeed by becoming involved in campus activities.

UW data show that students who are involved with campus life tend to perform better academically and are more likely to graduate than those who don't.

CAC is launching Cowboy Check-In -- a new opt-in initiative to encourage attendance and participation in CAC-sponsored events, says Kaitlyn Bertoglio, CAC marketing coordinator.

CAC representatives will scan students’ WyoOne cards at each event and document attendance -- much like “'checking in” to an event or location on social media, Bertoglio says.

“The UW student who comes to the most events for the remainder of the 2014-15 academic year will win $500, and a random UW student will win $1,500,” she says.

Any currently enrolled fee (paying) student in good standing with UW after the final event of the spring 2015 semester is eligible to win.

Cowboy Check-In is sponsored by Friday Night Fever, Visual and Cultural Arts, Student Activities Council and Concerts and Convocations. The program will be available at the majority of events hosted by the sponsoring groups.

“Students can check in at any event where a Cowboy Check-In logo is placed. The logo also can be located on event posters and online,” Bertoglio says. “This is an optional program and it is not mandatory to attend events.”
