University of Wyoming Calendar for Sept. 8

Retired U.S. Sen. Alan Simpson, a sponsor of the 1984 Wyoming Wilderness Act, will be a panel member for a public discussion about the act’s history and politics Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the UW College of Agriculture auditorium.

These are among activities scheduled Sept. 8-14 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Wyoming Union “Meet Laramie” vendor fair, Prexy’s Pasture. Free.

Tuesday, Sept. 9, 5 p.m. -- Deadline to submit memories for Wyoming Union 75th anniversary exhibition, visit https://www.uwyo.edu/union/75th-anniversary or email hmcnamee1@uwyo.edu.

Wednesday, Sept. 10, 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 14, 2 p.m. --  Movie, “Winged Seduction: Birds of Paradise,” UW Berry Center, Room 138. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 10, 5-7 p.m. -- “Real Women, Real Bodies” exhibition reception, Gallery 234, Wyoming Union lower level. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m. -- Panel discussion on the “Wyoming Wilderness Act: History, Politics and Perceptions,” College of Agriculture auditorium. Free.

Wednesday, Sept. 10, dusk -- Campus Activities Center hosts a drive-in movie double feature at Summit View parking lot. Movies shown will be “The Goonies” and “Neighbors.” Free.

Thursday, Sept. 11, 3 p.m. -- Cowboy Challenge Mud Run, top of the hill behind Jacoby Golf Course near Willett Drive. Sign up start at 2 p.m., free for UW students, $5 for others.

Friday, Sept. 12, 6-8 p.m. -- Opening reception for fall exhibitions at the UW Art Museum, Centennial Complex, 2111 Willett Drive. Free.

Friday, Sept. 12, 6:30, 9 and 11 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever movie showing of “22 Jump Street,” Wyoming Union Family Room. Free.

Friday, Sept. 12, 7 p.m. -- Lecture and book signing by Cornell ornithologist Ed Scholes, co-author of “Birds of Paradise: Revealing the world’s most extraordinary birds,” Room 138 of the Berry Center. Free.

Friday, Sept. 12, 7 p.m. -- Cowgirl volleyball, UW vs. Gonzaga, UniWyo Sports Complex. $8 adults, $5 youths under 18.

Friday, Sept. 12, 9 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever presents archery battle and laser tag, West Fraternity Mall. Free.

Saturday, Sept. 13, 7:30-11:30 a.m. -- Annual Laramie Community Service Day starts with a pancake breakfast at Laramie Recreation Center, 920 Boulder Drive, with volunteer work starting at 8:30 a.m. to plant trees on Harney Street between 22nd and 30th streets and landscaping work on Willett Drive and 15th Street by Green Hill Cemetery.
