Students considering transferring to the University of Wyoming have a new tool to simplify the process.

Using a UW online platform called the Transfer Equivalency Self-Service (TreQ) site, potential transfer students can get a good idea of how the courses they’ve taken at other institutions will transfer and apply toward degrees at UW.

The site may be found at http://wyotransfer.uwyo.edu.

“UW students have had the ability to go online to assess their progress toward degrees for some time, and now that service is available to students interested in transferring to UW,” says Patrice Noel, UW’s director of transfer relations. “We’re delighted to extend this option to students outside the university and believe it will eliminate much of the uncertainty for transfer students.”

A student using TreQ is encouraged to create a free account; answer a few questions about his or her intended UW degree and start date; and indicate courses taken, and where and when they were taken. Each student then receives an unofficial transfer evaluation report for UW and an unofficial evaluation report for the intended UW degree.

“While these reports are not official, they are valuable guides to help students understand how their classes taken at other institutions may transfer to UW and apply to degree requirements,” UW Associate Registrar Erin Olson says. “Official transfer and degree evaluations aren’t completed until students have submitted their official transcripts and are fully admitted to UW.”

Those needing assistance with TreQ should contact UW’s Office of the Registrar at (307) 766-3137 or registrar@uwyo.edu. For more information about UW, contact the Office of Admissions at (307) 766-5161 or admissions@uwyo.edu.

TreQ is made available through the collaborative efforts of UW’s Transfer Programs, Office of the Registrar, and Division of Information Technology. The service is one component of UW’s initiative to ease the transition for students moving to the university from Wyoming community colleges and other institutions.

Efforts also are underway to develop four-year curriculum maps that can be easily accessed by prospective students and their families, along with program-level articulation agreements with the community colleges to assure that courses taken at the colleges meet specific course requirements for UW degrees.
