Cowboy Check

As University of Wyoming students check into campus life again, the UW Campus Activities Center (CAC) reminds them of Cowboy Check-In, a recently launched initiative to encourage attendance and participation in CAC-sponsored events.

UW data show that students who are involved with campus life tend to perform better academically and are more likely to graduate than those who don’t become involved.

CAC representatives will scan students’ WyoOne ID cards at each event and document attendance -- much like “checking in” to an event or location on social media.

“The UW student who comes to the most events for the remainder of the 2014-15 academic year will win $500, and a random UW student will win $1,500,” says Kaitlyn Bertoglio, CAC marketing coordinator.

Any currently enrolled, fee-paying student in good standing with UW after the final event of the spring semester is eligible to win.

“Students can ‘check in’ at any event where there is a Cowboy Check-In logo. The logo can also be located on event posters and online,” Bertoglio says. “This is an optional program, and it is not necessary to attend events.”

Cowboy Check-In is sponsored by Friday Night Fever, Visual and Cultural Arts, Student Activities Council and Concerts and Convocations. The program will be available at the majority of events hosted by the sponsoring groups.
