UW Trustees Set January Meeting Agenda

January 13, 2015

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is scheduled to select a manager for what’s expected to be the largest construction project in UW history, and hear updates on a wide range of topics, during the board’s regular meeting Jan. 15-16.

The meeting begins at 8 a.m. Thursday in Salons D and E of the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, with public testimony scheduled at 11:30 a.m. With the exception of a visit to the newly renovated Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium on Friday, all sessions of the trustees will take place at the Gateway Center.

The business meeting, in which trustees take formal action on agenda items, is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday. All meetings are open to the public except for executive sessions.

The board is scheduled Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to hear a recommendation to contract with a construction manager at risk for a project to expand and possibly renovate facilities for UW’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, then act on the recommendation during Friday’s business meeting. The $106 million project will include construction of a new engineering facility north of Lewis Street between 11th and 12th streets and, if sufficient funding is available, changes to the existing Engineering Building south of Lewis Street.

The project will be funded through $76 million in state appropriations, $15 million in projected private donations, and $15 million in state matching funds.

Other discussion topics on the agenda for the two-day meeting include a salary increase distribution policy for the 2015-16 fiscal year, student fees, construction updates, a study of UW residence halls, UW’s fiscal reporting system, dean searches, strategic planning and legislative issues.

The complete agenda is available on the Web at www.uwyo.edu/trustees/2015-meeting-materials/.
