The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, April 6, via teleconference.
Under a new provision of UW regulations approved last month, the Board of Trustees is involved in offers of employment to dean or vice president candidates in a new way. The special meeting is to implement this new provision for the first time. The board will now authorize the administration to negotiate with a candidate rather than wait to act until negotiations are complete.
The UW College of Education dean search committee has identified four finalists for the position. In accordance with long-standing practice, the vice president for academic affairs makes a recommendation to the president, who makes a recommendation to the board.
The board will receive that recommendation in executive session Monday. Any decision to authorize negotiation of a contract with a finalist would take place in open session, but the name will not be disclosed until negotiations are complete.
Monday’s teleconference meeting will originate from the Old Main boardroom.
