These are among the construction activities scheduled June 7-13 at the University of Wyoming:

Electrical Outages (UW Physical Plant) -- Electrical service interruptions are scheduled to occur to west campus buildings June 6-7, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., for maintenance of the campus electrical distribution system. Buildings affected Saturday are Biological Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Old Main, Aven Nelson, Merica Hall, Student Health/Cheney International Center, Hoyt Hall, Ross Hall and Knight Hall. Buildings affected Sunday are the Wyoming Union, Half Acre, Physical Plant Service Building, General Storage, Physical Sciences, Classroom Building, Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Each building interruption should be no more than two hours. Building contacts have been notified of the scheduled outage times.

Wyoming Union Parking Lot (Simon Contractors, Cheyenne, August 2015) -- The Wyoming Union parking lot is closed for rehabilitation. Alternative parking is on Fraternity and Sorority Row. Willett Drive is now one way from the McWhinnie/Wyoming Hall parking lot to 15th Street. The parking spaces immediately east of McWhinnie Hall will be designated bus parking only. Parking and detour information is located here.

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities for the week:

High Bay Research Facility (General contractor Haselden Wyoming Constructors, Laramie; 19th Street; scheduled completion fall 2016) -- Construction office trailers are being placed on the site. A fence has been placed around the site. Vehicle tracking pads will be placed along 22nd and 19th streets where construction vehicles will access the site. A recycled asphalt pad will be placed in the staging area next to the construction office trailers. Excavation next to the Animal Science/Molecular Biology (ASMB) building will begin late the week of June 1, or early the week of June 8. This excavation will accommodate a tie-in to roof drains that will drain into a new storm sewer line that will be routed west of the ASMB building.

Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts (General contractor Sampson Construction, Cheyenne; Fine Arts Building renovation and expansion; scheduled completion May 2015) -- The parking lot on the east side of the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts is closed and is being used for construction staging. Building visitors should use the parking lot on the north side of the building. Those entering the Performing Arts Center must now enter through the doors on the building’s west side.

The parking lot south of the Performing Arts Center is now open on the east and will close again for asphalt repair in July. Subgrade work for the east parking lot is underway.

A power shutdown will occur Monday, June 8, from 6:30-8 a.m. and again Thursday, June 11, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for emergency egress lighting testing. Fire alarm testing will occur all day Monday, June 8, with audible testing from 8-10 a.m. and again all day Thursday, June 11, with audible testing from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

New addition: Flooring/wall tile, ceilings, electrical, plumbing and mechanical trim-out installations are complete in the majority of the addition. Acoustic wall panel and roller shade installation will begin this week. Final flooring, theater lighting and AV installation continues in the Thrust Theater. Recital Hall shelf framing, upper painting and stage wood flooring installation are complete, with lower shelf wood louver panels continuing. Contractor access for new construction tie-ins into existing facilities continues. HVAC controls wiring and programming continue, with air balancing and commissioning ongoing. Punch lists have begun in parts of the lower and upper addition. The box office has moved to a temporary location just southeast of the old box office location. The Department of Theatre and Dance northwest office addition is complete, and offices are now occupied. Punch lists are nearly complete.

Heavy truck traffic will be frequent near War Memorial Fieldhouse, 22nd Street and Willett Drive, and along the road west of the College of Law Building.

Half Acre Gymnasium Addition and Renovation (General contractor Groathouse Construction Inc., Cody; Phase 1 east reconstruction/addition was substantially completed March 13; Phase 2, historic west renovation, fall 2015) -- Full project information is available here.

Phase 1 of the Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center opened Monday, March 16. Punch-list tasks, building technology and transitional work toward Phase 2 renovation will continue post-occupancy. Pedestrian access to the new south building entrance from Prexy’s Pasture and from the east Wyoming Union parking lot has reopened. Please observe temporary barricades, cautionary signs or other posted instructions in areas where work will continue.

The west historic entrance is closed for Phase 2 renovation. Current Phase 2 activity includes final interior deconstruction; structural renovation and foundation construction; and interior layout and preparation in advance of new construction. Additional construction and staging areas are being established. Completion of Phase 2 renovation is now scheduled for fall 2015.

Construction and staging areas north, east and west of the existing building have been established and are closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic, except that which is construction related. Pedestrian pathways north and south of Half Acre Gymnasium remain open; however, the continuing construction activities in this vicinity will result in increased congestion. Temporary traffic controls, barricades and signs will be established as needed by specific site activities. Please observe all posted traffic control, construction signs and temporary flagging in the affected areas.

Hoyt Hall Renovation (General contractor TBD, projected bid date is Aug. 18, 2015) -- Occupants of Hoyt Hall are being moved to the Guthrie House (former UW Foundation building) this summer and to Crane and Hill halls for the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters while extensive renovation takes place in the building. Colorado Hazard Control will start abatement work in Room 112 on Wednesday, June 10. The remaining abatement in the building will begin on Monday, June 22, and last several weeks.

There are presently waste and metal recycling dumpsters located at the service drive on the northeast corner of Hoyt Hall. These are being used to dispose of unwanted items from the building. Interior renovation work on Hoyt Hall is expected to begin in late September and be substantially complete in April 2016.

Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center -- Minor site work around the building related to the “Eye-Animals” sculpture installation (Artist Walczak & Heiss, Brooklyn, N.Y.) and the Spruce Court construction is ongoing. Service vehicles entering campus from the gate at 9 1/2 Lewis St. should use caution.

Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility (General contractor AP Wyoming, Cheyenne; Lewis Street between 10th and 11th streets; scheduled completion August 2015) -- Please note that this project is being managed and administered by the State Construction Office. The intersection of 11th and Lewis is open for pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The sidewalk on the south side of Lewis is open, and there is access to the Earth Science/EIC loading dock. Street repair work will be limited to gravel fill until new curb and gutter are placed and street repair is started.

Construction activity continues throughout the building. Installation of ceiling grid is complete on the first floor and second floor. Perimeter and cut-in tile is complete ahead of the field tile and lights. Ceiling grid work is underway on the third floor and the atrium. Ceilings are expected to start in corridors and public areas. Laboratory casework is complete on the first and second floors. Laboratory casework and hoods, along with lab tops, are being installed on the third floor. Drywall finishing continues on the third floor and atrium ahead of painting. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins are finishing on the third floor ahead of the drywall. Finishing of the installation of stairs and elevators continues. There will continue to be numerous man lifts around the perimeter of the building, allowing work to progress on the cornice, curtain wall and masonry. The mason will continue to work on numerous areas of the exterior as site work and glazing systems allow.

Roof membrane work is complete. Flashing and trim-out of the roof is proceeding on the penthouse and lower roofs as weather permits. Metal panel closure on the mechanical rooms is underway. Curtain wall and glass installation is proceeding on the north and south as adjacent work and weather permit. Materials are stocked on site, with installation proceeding as glass is fabricated. Work on the atrium interior walls and detail continues in conjunction with the completion of mechanical and electrical systems. Site work has started on all sides. This will cause intermittent disruptions to traffic on all surrounding streets. The construction office is relocated to the west on 10th Street to facilitate site work on the west.

Watch for construction traffic on Lewis, 10th, 11th and Bradley streets. For safety, pedestrians should make eye contact with equipment operators and delivery drivers outside the fenced area so they are aware of their presence. There will be equipment moving materials from storage to site, along with ongoing delivery of materials to site from vendors. You can visit the webcam here.

Biological Sciences (General contractor Independent Heating, Laramie) -- The final roofing on the southeast side is complete.
