Michele Peck is UW Staff Employee of the Quarter

Michele Peck’s remarkable efficiency, reliability and attention to detail, and the phenomenal quality and integrity of her performance, have earned her the University of Wyoming’s Staff Employee of the Second Quarter award.

The award recognizes UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace.

A staff assistant in the office of the vice president for academic affairs, Peck continued working hard to advance the well-being of university students during a time of significant disruption in a variety of senior-level positions. She works closely with all colleges and programs on campus, and demonstrates superior service and leadership for other staff, faculty and graduate students campuswide.

“The impact (of the administrative changes) on the university community has been largely unnoticed due to her outstanding contributions,” wrote one nominator. Another added that Peck’s position requires high-quality work, including a thorough understanding of UW’s graduate degree programs and the regulations governing them.

“Her responsibilities require an ability to work collegially and diplomatically with staff and faculty members from academic departments, not to mention the students themselves,” the nominator wrote. “She excels in these categories. Her work is of such high caliber that she has become UW's go-to source for information on these matters.”

Peck began working at UW in 2000 as an office assistant, senior, with International Student Services, and later was an office associate in the Office of General Counsel and the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing. She joined Academic Affairs in 2007 before becoming a staff assistant in 2010.

“I get to work with amazing staff who truly strive to do their best, fascinating faculty from every discipline and exceptional students,” Peck says. “I consider myself fortunate to have a career at UW, where people care about the students and take pride in the work they do.”

Employee of the Quarter nominees can be any UW staff employee and must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the Web at www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/employee-of-the-quarter.
