Tonja Woods, associate dean of the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy, has been nominated for the Wyoming Women of Influence designation, according to the Wyoming Business Report.
Woods was nominated in the health care category. She and other nominees will be honored at a breakfast Friday, Aug. 14, in Cheyenne. The Wyoming Business Report publisher and staff members will select the final honorees.
Her nomination indicates she has taught workshops on diabetes, Medicare Part D and cardiovascular disease to more than 300 geriatric patients in 20 Wyoming communities. Committed to geriatric education, Woods served on the steering committee of the Wyoming Geriatric Education Center, and has helped to establish innovative practice sites.
She has been on the Board of Directors for the Wyoming Pharmacy Association since 2013 and currently serves as president of the Wyoming Society of Health System Pharmacy. Last year, she was among 30 faculty members nationwide selected for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s Academic Leadership Fellows Program.
Woods conducts research involving diabetes, geriatrics, antibiotics and headaches. Her teaching assignments include ambulatory care, therapeutics, geriatrics and the role of pharmacists.
