The last day for University of Wyoming students to add or drop semester-long classes is now on the same day: Thursday, Sept. 10, which corresponds to the eighth business day of the fall semester.

“Through that Thursday, a student may drop a full-semester class through their WyoRecords account and not have to pay any money for it,” says Jo Chytka, UW Center for Advising and Career Services director. “Students should always communicate with their academic advisers before dropping any class but, after doing so, they may drop through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.”

While the drop deadline has not changed, the new add deadline date gives students a better opportunity to succeed in classes that were added after the first day of classes.

“By slightly reducing the number of days into the semester that a student could add a class through their WyoRecords account, fewer students will unintentionally put themselves in positions to perform poorly academically by missing so much class time early in the semester,” says Chytka, whose office advises nearly 600 students per semester.

Students may withdraw from classes through their WyoRecords account, she adds.

“While a non-punitive grade of ‘W’ will appear on their transcript, students will get only a portion of the tuition paid for that class refunded back to them,” Chytka says.

Students may view the dates for refunds, along with individual class withdrawal deadlines, by clicking on the respective link on their “Add or Drop Classes” page in WyoRecords.
