Free Rocky Horror Halloween Event at UW Oct. 31

University of Wyoming students are encouraged to take part in a free interactive “Rocky Horror Picture Show” event Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Hosted by Friday Night Fever, the screening of the popular film is open to the public, but tickets are required for entry. Free tickets are available now on a first-come, first-served basis at the Wyoming Union information desk.

Doors will open at 10 p.m. with general admission seating. This is an 18 and older event with ID checks at the door. Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian because of the film’s R rating.

The film is a low-budget cult classic about the misadventure of Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon) inside a strange mansion that they come across on a rainy night. After their car breaks down in the woods, the couple seeks refuge in a nearby towering castle. Greeting them at the door is a ghoulish butler who introduces them to partygoers dressed in strange outfits and the party’s host Dr. Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry), a mad scientist transvestite clad in lingerie who claims to be from another planet.

The “Rocky Horror” experience will feature people yelling and throwing objects during the film. Props will be provided to the first 500 attendees, and costumes are encouraged. Approved props include newspaper, flashlights, rubber gloves, noisemakers, ticker tape (instead of confetti), toilet paper, party hats, bells and cards. Props not allowed are rice, water pistols, candles, confetti, hot dogs and prunes.
