The Laramie Downtown Clinic presented its Daniel S. Klein “Spirit of Volunteerism Award" to Linda Gore Martin, dean of the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Klein volunteered at the Downtown Clinic before his untimely death in 2004. The Klein award is given annually to a volunteer who exemplifies the spirit of community service and commitment that makes the Downtown Clinic a foundation of quality care in the Laramie community. Recipients are selected by nomination from other volunteers and/or Downtown Clinic clients.
“Linda has volunteered at the Downtown Clinic since day one, and continues to volunteer regularly, even with her hefty ‘day job’ as the dean of the UW School of Pharmacy,” wrote Sarah Gorin, Downtown Clinic director. “In a word, Linda is amazing!”
The following is a quote from a client who nominated Martin for the award:
“She is such a wonderful pharmacy resource and loves working with the providers on challenging pharmacy cases. She also enjoys teaching clients about their medications, and I can see Dan Klein’s spirit in Linda whenever she provides a client consultation.”
In 2014, the Klein Award was presented to Ann Marie Hart, professor in the UW School of Nursing.
The Downtown Clinic provides comprehensive primary health care for low-income, uninsured residents of Albany County. Services include primary care, counseling, pharmacy, lab and diagnostic testing, and emergency dental.
