Wyoming Public Media (WPM) met its on-air goal of $250,000 for the Fall Membership Drive one day early.
“Wyoming has strong support from individuals, businesses and corporations who value having a public radio service in Wyoming,” says General Manager Christina Kuzmych. “Keeping our signals strong in all locations in Wyoming is critical, and Wyomingites certainly let us know this during the member drives.”
WPM includes three radio stations: Wyoming Public Radio, Classical Wyoming and Jazz Wyoming, and a streaming online service at www.wyomingpublicmedia.org.
A service of the University of Wyoming Outreach School, WPM airs news from National Public Radio and the BBC, Classical Wyoming with 24/7 classical music and Jazz Wyoming with 24/7 jazz.
“WPM is committed to delivering a public media service to Wyoming that enriches citizens’ lives. This means bringing national programming to Wyoming, and also producing strong Wyoming-centric content like our daily news reports, and new podcasts like ‘HumaNature,’” Kuzmych says. “We inform Wyomingites about the world and about their own state. At the same time, WPM-produced content is picked up nationally by NPR and other distributors. WPM helps tell the Wyoming story to the world.”
WPM receives 60 percent of its operating budget from member and corporate support, and from grants, she says. Federal and state (through UW) funding provides the remaining 40 percent.
