The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Fall Faculty Recital Series concludes Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall with a performance of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti Nos. 4 and 5.
Sponsored by the German Embassy to commemorate the reunification of Germany, the concert is free and open to the public. As part of an ongoing collaboration between the UW departments of Music and Political Science, the concert celebrates the 25th anniversary of German reunification with the music of J.S. Bach.
UW music faculty soloists are John Fadial, professor of violin; Nicole Riner, assistant professor of flute; Alaunde Copley-Woods, guest on flute; Beth Vanderborgh, associate professor of cello; and pianist Theresa Bogard, music department chair.
The performance is the last of a series of cultural and academic events that have taken place on campus this semester to commemorate the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
This is the second year UW has celebrated German reunification. All events have been coordinated by the Department of Political Science and co-sponsored by International Programs, the Milward L. Simpson Fund, Global and Area Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, the Center for Global Studies, Department of Music, American Studies Program and the UW Art Museum.
The Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series will resume in February.
