These are among the activities scheduled Dec. 7-13 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Dec. 7, 3:10 p.m. -- The Department of Geology and Geophysics Distinguished Lecturer Series presents Jorden Hayes, UW Ph.D. candidate. She will discuss “Critical Zone Architecture from a Combined Geophysical and Geochemical Perspective” in the S.H. Knight Geology Building, Room 216. Free.

Tuesday, Dec. 8-Saturday, Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Passage” on the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts main stage. Tickets cost $14 for the public, $11 for senior citizens and $7 for students. Wednesday, Dec. 9, noon -- “Going Home for the Holidays,” presented by the University Counseling Center as part of the Wellness Wednesday Speaker Series, in the Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center classroom. Free.

Wednesday, Dec. 9, noon -- School of Energy Resources Speaker Series presents “The quest for evidence: Tales from the twilight zone between science and politics” by Jan Marco Müller, policy officer for international relations at the Joint Research Centre, European Commission. This event will take place in the Energy Innovation Center’s Encana Auditorium. Lunch available. Free.

Wednesday, Dec. 9, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Collegiate Chorale presents its candlelight concert, “Be With Me,” at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, located at 104 S. Fourth St. Tickets cost $10.50 for the public; $7.50 for seniors, faculty and staff; and $6.50 for students. Friday, Dec. 11, 4 p.m. -- Fall commencement for College of Arts and Sciences and College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, Dec. 11, 4:10 p.m. -- Anthropology Seminar Series: “Getting Creative with Culture: How Anthropology Enriches Storytelling (and vice versa),” presented by Laura Resau, Fort Collins, Colo., in the Anthropology Building, Room 150.

Friday, Dec. 11, 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever will screen “The Intern” in the lower level of Washakie Dining Center. Free.

Friday, Dec. 11, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Ice Dwarves.” A tour of the STAR Observatory follows at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Friday, Dec. 11, 9 p.m. -- Friday Night Fever’s annual end-of-semester finals destresser will take place in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.

Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m. -- Fall commencement for College of Business, Arts and Sciences auditorium; and for College of Health Sciences, Wyoming Union Ballroom. College of Engineering and Applied Science commencement is at 1:30 p.m. in the Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Saturday, Dec. 12, 2 p.m. -- Cowgirls basketball vs. Montana in the Arena-Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

Saturday, Dec. 12, 6 p.m. -- Lori Howe, UW doctoral candidate in literacy studies, will read selections from her new book of poetry, “Cloudshade: Poems of the High Plains,” at Night Heron Books, located at 107 E. Ivinson Ave. in Laramie. This free event is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.

Saturday, Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 13, 3 p.m.  -- The UW Department of Music presents its gala holiday concert, “A Cowboy Christmas,” in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $10 for the public, $7 for seniors and $6 for students.
