Members of the University of Wyoming community are invited to take advantage of an open house period offered through Monday, Feb. 8, at the recently renovated and expanded Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center.

During this time, individuals who present a valid WyoOne ID are encouraged to use the state-of-the-art facility.

New features include expanded cardio and weight training areas; increased group fitness studio space, including a dedicated cycling room; a multi-activity court gym for various indoor activities; a 38-foot climbing wall pinnacle and extensive bouldering area; updated swimming pool area with a large heated spa; and improved locker rooms with new steam rooms.

A new Wellness Center, incorporating many aspects of holistic wellness, is included in the newly renovated facility. In addition to serving as the hub for health and wellness educational programs, the Wellness Center will offer a variety of wellness services. The Wellness Center is located in the southwest part of Half Acre in the “free zone,” which requires no gym membership to access. Most offerings are free of charge; however, there are a few services that charge a competitive rate.

The Wellness Center will host an open house Monday, Feb. 1, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Campus Recreation will offer an enhanced Adult Wellness Program in the spring semester. The program will include an instructor-led fitness component as well as a walking program. Two workout times are available for the program, noon and 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in participating in this new and expanded program should plan to attend one of the informational meetings Monday, Feb. 1, at either noon or 5:30 p.m. in the classroom at Half Acre.
