Clayleen Rivord is UW Employee of the Quarter

Recognized across campus for her collegiality, dependability and integrity, Clayleen Rivord is the University of Wyoming Employee of the First Quarter of 2016.

The award honors UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace. Rivord, the office associate for both the Philosophy and Religious Studies departments, was recognized for her extraordinary conscientious ability to solve problems and maintain a well-organized workplace to the benefit of faculty and students alike.

“She is quiet and modest and wouldn't claim to be doing anything big, but the university is out to create conditions for learning, and that's exactly what she does, day after day,” one nominator wrote. “She is always cultivating a more pleasant and productive work atmosphere in the department, and has worked hard to foster a network of good relations between our department and other units on campus.

“She performs her work in the highest quality, generally ahead of schedule, with incredible organizational skills,” he wrote. “She is always on the lookout for ways to do things better.”

Rivord appreciates working with a broad spectrum of people, particularly the students and colleagues in philosophy and religious studies.

“It is with their superb qualities, camaraderie, knowledge and individuality that I am able to achieve and complete the necessary tasks required of me each day,” says Rivord, who earned a B.S. (1989) in child and family studies and a B.A. (1994) in elementary education, both at UW. She later worked in Student Health, the College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office, Human Resources Training office and the Modern and Classical Languages Department before starting her current position in 2005.

“When I first started working at UW, I had no idea that this would be my profession 22 years later,” Rivord says. “The growth and changes that have occurred over the years have been phenomenal, and I am happy to have spent the last 11 years doing it with the faculty and students in philosophy and religious studies.”

Employee of the Quarter nominees can be any UW staff employee and must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the Web at www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/employee-of-the-quarter. The deadline to nominate someone for the second quarter is Friday, June 10.
