Own It! Awards Ceremony to Honor UW Women in STEM May 4

Women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) will be celebrated during the Own it! Awards Wednesday, May 4, from 6-8 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Union Ballroom.

More than 30 campus researchers were nominated for their outstanding scientific and scholarly achievements. Many will receive awards in categories for students, staff and faculty members. Nominations were made by persons on campus who work directly with the nominees.

Awards nomination criteria, developed by Wyoming EPSCoR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research), include:

-- A female student, staff or faculty member who has made significant contributions to her field of research in the last 18 months.

-- Demonstrates aptitude and scholarly success.

-- Demonstrates service, leadership and/or mentoring on the UW campus.
