University of Wyoming Calendar for June 27

These are among the activities scheduled June 27-July 3 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, June 27, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. -- The Small Business Innovation Research Road Tour will present a program at the Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility. The cost is $25. To register, go to www.wyen.biz/events.

Monday, June 27, 7 p.m. -- The National Parks, Public Lands and the Wyoming Landscape Public Lecture Series presents Ken Sims, a professor in the UW Department of Geology and Geophysics. He will discuss the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory and his geochemical and geophysical research in Yellowstone National Park. His talk will be in the UW Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. Free.

Tuesday, June 28, noon -- The National Parks, Public Lands and the Wyoming Landscape Public Lecture Series presents Phil Roberts, a professor in the UW Department of History. He will discuss Shoshone Cavern National Monument, its delisting and current issues relevant to other public lands in Wyoming. His talk will be in the UW Berry Center auditorium. Free.

Tuesday, June 28, 7 p.m. -- The National Parks, Public Lands and the Wyoming Landscape Public Lecture Series presents Michael Amundson, a history professor at Northern Arizona University. He will present a version of his program “Wyoming Revisited,” which examines how Wyoming’s national park and monument landscapes have fared over the last century since photographed by J.E. Stimson in the early 20th century. His talk will be in the UW Berry Center auditorium. Free.

Tuesday, June 28-Saturday, July 2, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Godspell” in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theatre. Tickets cost $10 for the public; and $7 for students, senior citizens and children age 5 and older. Wednesday, June 29, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Laramie band Shacktivists will perform for the UW Summer Programs concert series on Simpson Plaza. Free.

Wednesday, June 29, noon -- The National Parks, Public Lands and the Wyoming Landscape Public Lecture Series presents Jeffrey Means, head of the UW Department of History. He will discuss Devil’s Tower, the country’s first national monument. His talk will be in the UW Berry Center auditorium. Free.

Friday, July 1, 8 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “American Astronomy.” A laser light show follows at 9:10 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Saturday, July 2, 10 a.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host the Wyoming Art Party’s “Parade Project” workshop. The free workshop will feature mask making and winged costume creation.

Saturday, July 2, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “Earth, Sun and Moon.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in Room 204 of the Physical Sciences Building.

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum, open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
