UW Move

Volunteer sign-ups are now being accepted to welcome new and returning students and their families to the University of Wyoming for the fall semester.

“Move-In 2016” is scheduled Thursday, Aug. 25, and Friday, Aug. 26.

“Our students and their families continually tell us how exciting it is to be greeted by the many individuals from the university and how this makes them feel welcomed into the community during what could be a stressful time for them,” says Eric Webb, executive director of UW Residence Life and Dining Services, and the Wyoming Union. “Such a strong commitment to welcoming our students exemplifies the caring culture of our campus and the myriad of ways we rally to support our students.”

Webb says there are several ways volunteers can help welcome new UW students and their families during move-in weekend: greet students; help students load carts to transport belongings to residence hall rooms; answer questions; direct students to appropriate offices; and organize cart and dolly use.

Volunteers are needed for various shifts: from 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25; and from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26.

To sign up, email tballar1@uwyo.edu or call 766-3125 and request one of the available time slots.

“Let us know what time you would be available. We will work with your schedule based on the department needs at each hall or station,” Webb says. “We welcome any type of support you can provide.”
