The director of the University of Wyoming’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Program was inducted as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) recently.

Ann Marie Hart was recognized June 23 in San Antonio, Texas, during the 2016 AANP National Conference. She was among 88 nurse practitioners selected from across the country for this honor, and the only nurse practitioner from Wyoming.

Fellowship in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) is given to nurse practitioners who have made outstanding contributions to and demonstrated commitment to advancing the nurse practitioner role, particularly in the areas of practice, education, policy and/or research.

Although being selected as an FAANP is an honor, Fellows also meet throughout the year and work on initiatives to help advance the nurse practitioner profession. In addition to educating new nurse practitioners, Hart is passionate about helping newly graduated nurse practitioners transition successfully into practice and encourages them to deliberately participate in lifelong learning that will continue to inform and improve their practice.

"As an FAANP, I am excited to work with other fellows on measures to help newly graduated nurse practitioners,” Hart says. “I also am looking forward to contributing to national conversations and projects that will advance nurse practitioners’ practice and improve the nation's health."

More about Hart can be found on her faculty page at www.uwyo.edu/nursing/faculty-staff/hart.html.
