A Wyoming company has been selected to handle the second phase of improvements to the University of Wyoming Arena-Auditorium.
UW’s Board of Trustees voted today (Friday) to authorize a contract with Sletten Construction Co., of Cody, for renovation of and an addition to the university’s basketball arena. The company was the lowest responsible bidder for the construction project, with a total contract award of $13.28 million.
Work is scheduled to begin this month and be completed by Oct. 16, 2017.
The first phase of A-A improvements included renovation of the basketball court, seating bowl and locker room level. Phase 2 will include an addition to the east side of the building, providing a new, major façade, along with changes to the concourse and spectator services. Those include improved concessions and merchandise areas, restrooms and a central ticket office.
Funding for that project comes from $5 million in state appropriations, $6 million in private donations and $6 million in state matching funds.
In addition, the board voted to authorize a contract with Lime Green Design of Denver, Colo., to design the landscaping improvements associated with both the Arena-Auditorium renovation/addition and the construction of the nearby Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center, a 66,126-square-foot addition to the 48,100-square-foot Rochelle Athletics Center.
