The University of Wyoming Cultural Programs second program of the fall semester is the Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) performing at the new Laramie High School auditorium Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $15 for the public; $12 for senior citizens, UW faculty and staff; and $10 for students. Tickets are available at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

UW Fine Arts Outreach and the UW Department of Theatre and Dance also sponsor RDT’s Laramie appearance.

UW alumnus and theatre and dance student Dan Higgins, from Terra Linda, Calif., is a member of RTD, dancing with the group since he graduated in 2014. RDT is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

For 50 years, RDT has pushed the boundaries of modern dance, while preserving and celebrating its legacy. The Utah-based modern dance company beat out several big-city stalwarts to receive a Rockefeller grant, establishing it as one of the nation’s first repertory dance companies.

According to its website, audiences can expect the unexpected: “We are about art. Art in motion, expressed through our bodies as modern dance. Art that in its immediacy and intimacy can be both thrilling and profound. Art that challenges you, and art that you won’t see coming. Unlike conventional modern dance organizations, we present you with a diverse range of modern dance styles and choreographers paired together in dynamic and unexpected performances.”

For more information about RDT, visit the website www.rdtutah.org/.

Each year, UW Cultural Programs brings a variety of internationally known performers to campus, often at ticket prices much less than at larger venues. This season features four remaining performances during the fall semester and six spring semester performances.

The four remaining fall Cultural Programs are: Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Friday, Oct. 21; Joseph Cashore’s Marionettes, Thursday, Nov. 3; 17-year-old acclaimed pianist Daniel Hsu, Friday, Nov. 18; and the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Visit the UW Cultural Programs webpage at www.uwyo.edu/culturalprogram/ to view the 2016-17 entertainment lineup.
