The University of Wyoming Art Museum’s Ann Simpson Artmobile will host the exhibition “Surrealism: Visions of the Mind” at three different Crook County locations Nov. 1-4.

The exhibition will be on display at the Crook County Public Library in Sundance Tuesday, Nov. 1, and Wednesday, Nov. 2; the Hulett Branch Library Thursday, Nov. 3; and the West Texas Trail Museum in Moorcroft Friday, Nov. 4. The public may view the exhibition during regular business hours.

K-12 students will attend deep-looking and art-making sessions with Erica Ramsey, Artmobile educator, throughout the week. A special Family Storytime session for participants, birth to 6 years, will be offered from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Sundance.

“Surrealism: Visions of the Mind” features the work of 15 different artists, representing the international significance of this 20th century artistic movement.

“Crook County citizens are invited to come and see the Artmobile exhibition and investigate surrealism, an important art historical movement,” Ramsey says.

The Ann Simpson Artmobile program is a free core outreach program for the UW Art Museum, traveling museum-quality original artwork statewide for the past 35 years. On average, the Artmobile travels two to three weeks out of every month to Wyoming communities that have little or no access to original art. The Artmobile reaches out to people of all ages, backgrounds and developmental abilities with special focus given to Wyoming’s K-12 schools and underserved populations including seniors, veterans and individuals with special needs.

For more information, call the Art Museum at (307) 766-6622, visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum, or follow the museum on Facebook.

Through its “Museum as Classroom” approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. Located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie, the museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday hours are extended to 7 p.m. February through April and September through November. Admission is free.
