SBDC Webinar to Help Small Businesses Secure SBIR Grants

November 1, 2016

The federal government sets aside more than $2 billion annually to fund early-stage development of new high-tech ideas being pursued by the nation’s innovative small firms. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs focus on funding high-risk, high-payoff projects that have significant commercial potential.

Kelly Haigler Cornish, program manager of the Wyoming SBIR/STTR Initiative, will lead a webinar, titled “Your SBIR Toolbox: Wyoming Resources to Help Small Businesses Win SBIR Grants,” Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 2-3 p.m. Haigler Cornish will discuss the resources Wyoming has available to help small businesses take advantage of these federal research dollars.

The Wyoming Entrepreneur Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

Additionally, this webinar will provide an overview of these resources, including programs to help businesses through all phases of the application process; recorded webinars; upcoming workshops; and the people who are willing and able to help.

There is no fee for this webinar, but participants must register to obtain the link at www.wyomingsbdc.org. For more information, call Haigler Cornish at (307) 766-2904 or email her at haigler@uwyo.edu.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. For more information, call Greg Jordan at (307) 766-3593 or email him at gregj@uwyo.edu.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and SBIR/STTR Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
