UW Outdoor Gear Swap Saturday

The University of Wyoming Outdoor Gear Swap will take place Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

The Outdoor Gear Swap is a community event to recycle outdoor equipment and get gear into the hands of people who want it, says Dan McCoy, Campus Recreation assistant director.

“Sell your old gear or find some ‘new-to-you’ outdoor gear at this very popular one-day-only sale,” he adds.

For people purchasing items, cash or local checks (with valid ID) are the only form of payment; credit cards are not accepted at the swap. McCoy encourages people to plan ahead.

“Each check is made out directly to each seller you purchase from; you may be writing multiple checks, depending upon how many items you purchase,” he says. “Therefore, we prefer cash.”

McCoy says individuals interested in selling equipment must come prepared to tag, price and fill out receipts for all the items they submit during check-in times only.

Gear check-in is Friday, Dec. 2, from 6-8 p.m. or Saturday between 8-10 a.m. in the Wyoming Union Senate Chambers. Unsold gear must be picked up by the sellers Saturday after the swap between 1-3 p.m. The UW Outdoor Program takes a 15 percent commission for items sold.
