SBDC Webinar to Focus on Federal Government as a Viable Market for State Businesses

December 16, 2016

The federal government is the largest consumer in the world, purchasing everything from cleaning supplies to rockets. In Wyoming alone, the federal government spent more than $450 million last year.

Brett Housholder, program manager with the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), will present a webinar, titled “Is the Federal Government a Viable New Market for My Business?,” Thursday, Jan. 19, from 2-3 p.m.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

In addition to his extensive experience helping Wyoming businesses win government contracts, Housholder previously was with the SBDC Market Research Center, where he helped entrepreneurs with competitive intelligence, demographic and psychographic analysis, marketing strategies, search engine optimization, and survey design and analysis.

Webinar attendees will learn the basics about requirements for government contracting to be able to evaluate whether this is an appropriate market for their businesses. Where and how to register in order to be eligible to contract with the government; how to best market to government agencies; and ways to search for opportunities and submit proposals to win contracts also will be discussed.

Registration for the program is free of charge, but attendees must register at www.wyomingsbdc.org to obtain the webinar link.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. For more information, call Greg Jordan at (307) 766-3593 or email him at gregj@uwyo.edu.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, PTAC, Market Research Center and SBIR/STTR Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
