Nominations are being accepted now for the University of Wyoming’s Student Employee of the Year. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 17.
“Our student employees provide invaluable service to our campus while working to financially support their educational goals. When we supervise our student employees well, we assist them in cultivating adaptive expertise and an ability to use learning flexibly in various contexts,” says Jeanne Durr, associate vice president for Human Resources. “We all know amazing UW employees who worked during their undergraduate and/or graduate years on our campus. There are many reasons to celebrate our student employees, and we encourage you to join in nominating a student.”
Three winners will be selected, with the first-place student receiving a $500 scholarship; second place will be awarded a $250 scholarship; and the third-place winner will receive a $100 scholarship. The first-place winner will advance to the state level, and then possibly to the national-level competition.
Student employees will be judged based on reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and the uniqueness of the student’s contribution to his or her employer. Student nominees (undergraduate or graduate) must have completed or will expect to complete at least three months full-time or six months part-time employment during the academic year.
