UW Webinar Looks at Digital Marketing Opportunities

January 11, 2017

Google now processes more than 40,000 search queries every second. That amounts to more than 3.5 billion requests per day. In these difficult economic times, getting your business noticed on social media and other digital marketing venues is more important than ever.

A webinar, titled “Digital Marketing Opportunities: Get Your Business on the Online Map,” will be presented by the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 2-3:30 p.m.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

About a year ago, Google announced that the number of searches that originate on mobile devices has more than doubled -- surpassing the number of desktop searches. Google trends also show that 70 percent of people who search “nearby” at the end of their queries will visit your businesses within the next 24 hours. Business owners cannot ignore these statistics. Creating an online presence for your business can be a big project.

Sarah Hamlin, SBDC business adviser in Fremont County, will present the class, designed to help businesses market themselves more effectively. She has nine years of experience in marketing, operations and finance with the National Outdoor Leadership School, as well as an MBA from Colorado State University. Her passion is supporting small businesses.

There is no fee for this webinar due to support from an SBA Portable Assistance Grant, but participants must register at www.wyomingsbdc.org to obtain the link to the program.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance. For more information, call (307) 382-0947.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and SBIR/STTR Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
