The University of Wyoming Art Museum will host a free gallery walk-through featuring student award winners from the 42nd annual Juried UW Student Exhibition Monday, Feb. 27, from 5:30-7 p.m.
The gallery walk-through is an opportunity to hear students discuss their artistic motivations, such as what drives the content of their work and why specific artistic media were chosen, and allow members of the public to ask questions in an informal setting. These skills help students develop as professional artists and bolster work-related skills such as public speaking.
The annual Juried UW Student Exhibition is open to any student enrolled at UW during the current academic year. This includes any in-state student enrolled through the Outreach School. A juror from outside the state is invited each year to select the exhibition. This year, Catharine Clark, owner of Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, Calif., juried the exhibition.
For the 42nd annual Juried UW Student Exhibition, 72 students submitted 184 original works of art, from which 57 works by 30 students were selected.
Each year, UW administration and departments, in addition to businesses and individuals, provide cash and purchase awards that recognize and support the creative work of UW students.
Award-winning students, listed by hometowns, are:
Bakersfield, Calif. -- Hannah Sease.
Boulder, Colo. -- Brigid Grund.
Cheyenne -- Curtis Holcomb and Tamara Rodgers.
Cody -- Olivia Christensen.
Dallas, Texas -- Jessica Beilharz.
