“The Journey: Take a Walk with Me,” which features each subject’s journey with autism, is currently on display in Gallery 234, located in the lower level of the University of Wyoming Union.
Artwork by Nancy Marlatt and Albany County School District 1 students will be on display through Thursday, April 13. A reception is scheduled Friday, April 7, from 5-7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
This exhibition displays the journey each family or individual takes to define themselves after a diagnosis with autism or another disability, and their journey to redefine what it means to be human, Marlatt says.
Some of the works displayed were created by students who may not be on the autism spectrum, but have other diagnoses or disabilities. Justin Deegan, art teacher at Indian Paintbrush Elementary School in Laramie, helped guide the artistic process.
