Campus Construction Update for April 30

(Note: The weekly construction update highlights only projects with new developments. Comprehensive updates are distributed monthly. For the most recent comprehensive update, click here.)

These are among the construction activities scheduled April 30-May 6 at the University of Wyoming:

Colder Weather Advisory (UW Operations) -- UW Operations asks building occupants to assist with ensuring buildings and facilities are safe and secure. Make sure all windows and doors are completely closed with windows latched at the end of each day, and report any doors or windows that you are unable to close and secure to the Service Desk (766-6225).

Snow Removal (UW Operations) -- Crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the Service Desk (766-6225) to report icy spots and problem areas.

UW Operations reports the following activities for the week:

UW Campus Irrigation Systems (Plumbing Shop, UW Operations) -- UW Operations will energize yard irrigation systems from April 17-May 26. Please use caution, as some sidewalks may be slippery and wet.

EHS Storage Unit, 16th and Gibbon (UW Operations) -- Equipment Services will work on the culvert at the EHS storage unit. Please use caution around equipment and crews.

McIntyre Hall (Big Horn Roofing, Arcon Inc., Laramie; July 14, 2017) -- Installation of fall protection anchors will occur 9 a.m-5 p.m. for two to three days beginning May 1. Intermittent noise is to be expected. Please use caution around crews accessing the building.

Engineering Education and Research Building (EERB) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Casper; spring 2019) -- Underground utility work has started, and traffic control measures are in place. Click here to see a map showing revisions to bus routes and street closures. Please observe all construction signs. A significant amount of work also will take place near the Anthropology Building. Please stay clear of the work zone.

Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (Construction manager at risk GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; June 2018) -- Steel erection for the building is complete, and framing operations are in progress. The north side of the football field and the sidewalk to the north of the Rochelle Athletics Center will remain the only pedestrian paths from the east to the west across the north of the stadium until late August. Gates 6 and 8 will remain closed until the exterior site work and hardscapes are complete. Access to War Memorial Fieldhouse and the Arena-Auditorium via the north end of the field can only be achieved via Gate 4 during games and events now. All other pedestrian access routes remain. Site utility work, including the installation of steam lines and chilled water lines, is in progress. This includes open excavations, staging areas and equipment in the Visual Arts parking lot and the landscape area to the west of the American Heritage Center. Please use caution when in or near these areas.
