Soul and Funk Band The Sextones to Perform at UW April 13

Soul and funk band The Sextones will perform Thursday, April 13, at 8 p.m. in the lower level of the University of Wyoming Union. The event is free and open to the public.

Based in Reno, Nev., the band is gaining notice for its Stevie Wonder sounds blended together with a new age funk.

The band began to gain recognition in 2016 with its festival performances. The band appeared at the Railroad Earth’s Hangtown Halloween Ball in Placerville, Calif., and the Wanderlust Festival in Tahoe, Calif. The Sextones also have shared the stage with Macy Gray, singer Charles Bradley and Dumpstaphunk.

The band features a commanding rhythm of bass, drums and keys with honest and heartfelt vocals. For the past 10 years, the band has toured the West Coast and gained loyal fans along the way. The Sextones’ new album, “Moonlight Vision,” will be released Saturday, April 8.
