UW Names Finalists for VP for Student Affairs

Finalists for the position of vice president for student affairs at the University of Wyoming have been identified, and they are scheduled to visit UW beginning Monday, April 24.

The candidates are Tim Alvarez, vice president for student affairs at North Dakota State University; Sean Blackburn, UW’s current associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students; Lori McDonald, dean of students at the University of Utah; and Bill Schafer, most recently the vice president for student life at West Virginia University.

As part of a two-day interview, each candidate is scheduled to give a public presentation. McDonald’s presentation will be 3:30-4:45 p.m. Monday, April 24, in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. The session will be streamed on WyoCast for UW employees and students at https://wyocast.uwyo.edu/WyoCast/Play/a225735b30e24a008fb3b23f792cd5121d.

Alvarez’s visit to UW for interviews will be April 27-28; Blackburn, May 1-2; and Schafer, May 4-5. The times and locations of their public presentations will be announced later.

The vice president for student affairs oversees UW units focused on student life, including Residence Life and Dining Services, the Dean of Students Office, Campus Recreation, Student Health Service, the University Counseling Center and the Wyoming Union.
