Photocopier Training Offered May 23

University of Wyoming faculty and staff members can learn about Konica Minolta photocopier equipment during a product show that will include demonstrations Tuesday and Wednesday, May 23-24, in the East Ballroom of the Wyoming Union.

Current vendor Konica Minolta was recently selected to continue as the university’s exclusive copier vendor for four additional years beginning July 1. The company was chosen through a competitive proposal process in which eight vendors provided proposals for consideration.

“Konica Minolta has been a strong partner of the university since July 1, 2009, and I’m pleased to continue working with them moving forward,” says Patrick Eastman, Copier Services manager. “Konica Minolta put forth a strong proposal that understood both the university’s financial situation along with its need to add efficiencies to existing business processes. We anticipate that many, if not all, of the copiers, beginning July 1, will include enhanced scanning capabilities such as scan-to-Word, scan-to-Excel, etc.”

Konica Minolta and Copier Services will contact departments in the weeks ahead to discuss future equipment needs. Before being contacted, departments are encouraged to examine both their current and future copier needs, as departments may be able to realize cost savings through changes in equipment (i.e., smaller copier, sharing of copiers with nearby departments, etc.). Copier Services is capable of tracking and assigning costs to the appropriate users/departments.

Copier Services would like to remind the campus community that single function printers (i.e., desktop printers) are often one of the most expensive means of printing. With the networking of nearly all copiers on campus, faculty and staff members are likely able to print directly to a nearby copier at a reduced cost. Questions regarding this printing option can be directed to Copier Services at 766-5546.

Also, all copier supplies, such as toner and staples, are included in this exclusive agreement and should never be purchased from a telemarketer, Eastman says.

For more information, contact Eastman at 766-5546 or peastman@uwyo.edu.
