UW Plaza Lease Amended to Allow Condominiums

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has amended its agreement with the private developer of the UW Plaza to allow construction of a mix of retail businesses, restaurants and condominiums.

University Plaza LLC leases the ground from UW for the 10-acre development on the east end of the UW campus.

“We are excited about the progress at UW Plaza with the opening of the newly constructed, 10-screen stadium theater operated by Movie Palace Inc. We have continued plans for development on the site that will include a mix of retail, restaurants and condominiums,” the company says. “We look forward to working with the university to create a first-class development that becomes the front porch for UW athletics and enhances the game-day experience for students, alumni and the community.”

The UW Plaza, development of which began in 2005, serves as a prominent entry to the UW campus. It’s intended to provide economic and aesthetic benefits, boost essential community services, and enhance visitor and tourist experiences.

The development’s current tenants include restaurants and retail businesses, along with the new movie theater. The tenants are: McAlister’s Deli, Union Wireless, Grand Nails & Spa, Coal Creek Coffee, Jimmy John’s, GNC, Great Clips, Blue Federal Credit Union, Rocket Fizz, H&R Block, Maurice’s, Mr. Jim’s Pizza, Cricket Wireless, Chili’s, Almanza’s and Studio City Cinema. A new business, Toppers Pizza, is expected to open soon.

The UW Board of Trustees voted earlier this year to authorize the amended ground lease with University Plaza LLC, and the document was executed April 20.
