Campus Construction Update for June 11

(Note: The weekly construction update highlights only projects with new developments. Comprehensive updates are distributed monthly. For the most recent comprehensive update, click here.)

These are among the construction activities scheduled June 11-17 at the University of Wyoming:

Cheyenne Family Medicine (Simon Contractors, Cheyenne; July 2017) -- Reconstruction of the north parking lot will begin. Work will require closure of the lot. Please use caution around work crews.

Education Building (Arcon Inc., Laramie; August 2017) -- The Education Building window replacement project is ongoing. The next batch of windows to be replaced is on the north side of the building. Construction fence has been established on the north side. Please be cautious of crews and equipment in the area.

Engineering Education and Research Building (EERB) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Casper; spring 2019) -- Underground utility work is underway, deep-under-slab rough-ins are complete, and backfill for slab-on-grade is underway. Click here to see a map showing revisions to bus routes and street closures. Please observe all construction signs.

Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (Construction manager at risk GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; June 2018) -- Steel erection for the building is complete, and interior and exterior framing operations are in progress. Masonry work is complete on the east elevation and has begun on the south elevation. The north side of the football field and the sidewalk to the north of the Rochelle Athletics Center will remain the only pedestrian paths from the east to the west across the north of the stadium until late August. Gates 6 and 8 will remain closed until the exterior site work and hardscapes are complete. Access to War Memorial Fieldhouse and the Arena-Auditorium via the north end of the field can only be achieved via Gate 4 during games and events. All other pedestrian access routes are indicated by traffic control barricades and signs. Access between the Rochelle Athletics Center and the Indoor Practice Facility has recently been restored. Site utility work, including the installation of steam lines and chilled water lines, is in progress. This includes open excavations, staging areas and equipment in the Visual Arts parking lot and the landscape area to the west of the American Heritage Center. The project switches from temporary power to the permanent transformer this weekend. That means June 10-11, there will be no electricity to the RAC, the IPF or the east Stadium, including the Wildcatter Suites. All applicable staff have been notified. Please use caution when in or near these areas.

Guthrie House (UW Operations, Equipment Shop; June 2017) -- Work has begun to construct a new ADA ramp east of the building. Parking in the area will be closed during demolition and construction. Please use caution around equipment.

Hoyt Hall (Arcon Inc. of Laramie; July 2017) -- This project is temporarily delayed. Downspout drainage improvements to the west side of the building will be ongoing, weather permitting. Handicapped access from the north to the main entry will be temporarily interrupted for a short period to allow installation of pipes. Construction ramps will be installed to maintain pedestrian access. Staging will be on the north and west sides of the building. Use caution around construction areas and work crews.

Knight Hall (UW Equipment Shop, Plumbing/Welding Shop; July 2017) -- This project is delayed for two weeks. Downspout drainage improvements to the west side of the building will be ongoing, weather permitting. The sidewalk and parking will be inaccessible for the duration of the project. Traffic between Hoyt and Knight halls will be reduced to one lane, and there will be occasional short-term closures during demolition, removal and new concrete placement delivery phases. Use caution around construction areas and work crews.

Arena-Auditorium Addition and Renovations (General contractor Sletten Construction of Wyoming Inc., Cody; October 2017) -- Parking on the east side of the building will be blocked for the project duration. Access to the A-A is closed. Be cautious of equipment, vehicles and construction crews in the area.

Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts (Commercial Flooring) -- New carpet will be installed in the entryway June 15.

College of Law (UW Operations, Carpenter and Paint Shops) -- The UW shops will remove the old partitions in the bathrooms on the second floor and replace them with new ones. Work will begin Monday, June 12, and run through the week. Please use caution in these areas.

High Bay (UW Operations, Laramie Mechanical Systems; August 2017) -- Work will begin to cool the mechanical room air compressor. Please use caution around crews and equipment.

These projects are complete:

UW Campus Irrigation Systems (UW Operations, Plumbing Shop) -- Work to energize yard irrigation systems has been completed.

Campus Coil Cleaning (Common Cents Energy Recovery, Colorado) -- Coil cleaning on campus is complete.

Washakie Dining Center (UW Operations, Paint Shop) -- Loading ramp decking resurfacing is complete.
